DCMF Seeks Executive Director
DAWSON, YUKON – January 9, 2026 – The Dawson City Music Festival (DCMF) is seeking a new Executive Director (ED). The rumours are true—Canada’s legendary “tiny, perfect” music festival is looking for a new director, following the departure of Executive Director Corbin Murdoch in December of 2025. The Dawson City Music Festival Board of Directors will begin accepting applications immediately, with the aim of filling the vacancy as soon as possible.
The festival, which began as a single stage in West Dawson in 1979, has grown exponentially over the past 48 years, now welcoming over 25 artists from across the country on 7 stages over three days. Long renowned for its hospitality, the Dawson City Music Festival is a community-run event, with some 250 volunteers pitching in each year to welcome over 1,000 festival-goers. Additionally, the Dawson City Music Festival Society, a non-profit run by a volunteer Board of Directors, offers year-round music programming including a winter concert series, a songwriter-in-residence program, and most recently, Goldensides Studio, a professional recording facility available as a working and teaching facility.
“We are excited to bring on a new ED,” said Andy Cunningham, DCMF’s President. “We know there are so many talented individuals out there who have big ideas for this festival and this organization. Our hope is that we can find the person who not only gets live music and the arts, but also our community. We are looking for someone who understands that DCMF lives on the good will of the people who call the Yukon home.”
The new ED will need to hit the ground running as DCMF gears up for its 48th year. Most acts for the 2026 line-up have already been confirmed, and the previous Executive Director has left big shoes to fill.
“We are so grateful for all that Corbin did during his tenure at DCMF, and we wish him the very best of luck at the helm of the Vancouver Folk Festival,” said Cunningham. “Meanwhile, even though it’s a bit hectic to change directors so suddenly, we know that the right person is out there and that our community will step up to welcome them and help them find their feet.”
A job posting for the position can be found below. Applications close at 11:59pm Yukon time on February 6, 2026.
