The Dawson City Music Festival and Klondike Institute of Art and Culture are currently accepting applications for the annual Songwriter in Residence Program. The purpose of the program is to provide songwriters with unrestricted time and space to research, develop and produce new work and to introduce visiting artists to northern peoples, cultures and landscapes. During their time in Dawson artists are encouraged to work within our community and to engage in outreach activities intended to promote interaction and foster a greater appreciation and understanding of songwriting, music and the arts in general. The Dawson City Music Festival and Klondike Institute of Art and Culture proudly present Canadian Bluesman, Matt Andersen. The heralded guitarist has performed with Randy Bachman, Bo Diddley, Little Feat, America, Loverboy, April Wine, and others; made frequent appearances on Stuart McLean’s CBC treaveling radio show "The Vinyl Café" and has been making a name for himself as "Canada’s greatest guitarist." In 2010 he became the first Canadian to win Memphis’s famed International Blues Challenge, which led to festival dates in France, Italy, and the US, where he toured with Old Crow Medicine Show and in 2011 was honoured with the Maple Blues Awards for Entertainer of the Year and Acoustic Act of the Year.

The Dawson City Music Festival is proud to present Juno Award winner Ron Sexsmith, July 19th at the historic Palace Grand Theatre. A singer-songwriter acclaimed by a galaxy of artists from Bob Dylan to Elton John, Chris Martin to Michael Bublé, Steve Earle to Lucinda Williams for his insight into the human heart and a melodic purity (to paraphrase admirer Elvis Costello), Ron Sexsmith is sure to charm the crowd.

KIAC, DCMF, & Frostbite Music Festival present Whitehorse live at the Oddfellows Ballroom A collaboration of Luke Doucet & Melissa McClelland Melissa McClelland and Luke Doucet tie the musical knot with the debut of their new band, Whitehorse, marrying their talent and chemistry on stage as a smoldering duo. Gutsy and resolute in their pursuits of sound and substance, Luke and Melissa's fusion of the personal and professional brings to mind the road-tested romance of Johnny and June.

The Dawson City Music Festival and The Klondike Institute of Art and Culture are excited to be hosting Colin Huebert as our 2012 songwriter in residence. Colin returns to Dawson City after having visited us with the Great Lake Swimmers in 2007. Colin has since absconded from the band to focus on his own project , Siskiyou, his collaboration with Great Lakes Swimmers compatriot Erik Arnesen. Colin will spend the month of February in the historic Macaulay Residency where he will be recording new material and developing work for Siskiyou. In addition to his own work, Colin will also be hosting a songwriter’s circle and sharing his talents with some of the students of our local Robert Service School.

The Dawson City Music Festival is proud to host a New Year’s Eve spectacular featuring the musical stylings of Vancouver’s premiere folk cabaret band MARIA IN THE SHOWER.

The Dawson City Music Festival was awarded Business of the Year by the Dawson City Chamber of Commerce at the organization's September 14th Annual General Meeting. The Dawson City Music Festival Association is very grateful to the Chamber for the award and for recognizing the economic impact of the cultural industry.
